Miracle

©2009 Joanna Beasley, Dustin Burnett, Otto Sharp

I know the stories
Of how you move mountains
And feed the hungry
Where food is gone

I've heard the tales of the
parting waters the
wine for thousands the
prayer at dawn

There is a path that goes through history
You've changed the world
Now won't You change me

Take me now
Make me your miracle
My heart and soul are ready to believe
Take me now
Make me your miracle
If there's a fount' of blessings flowing endlessly
Do a miracle in me

I won't be a story
You hear Sunday morning
No preacher or prophet
Will say my name
I don't have a demon
And I'm still breathing
But I want your healing
Just the same

And this is all I need
You're miracle in me
And this is all I need

Story Behind the Song

Psalm 139 says "search me and know me, test my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you."

I've prayed that, and it's amazing and sometimes not very pretty what God shows me, and how He changes me. I feel like a new person every time I pray this! Sometimes we feel like there has to be something seriously wrong with us or our situation to ask God for help. I know a ton of people who feel selfish asking God for things when there are other people who have so many more problems that are way bigger than theirs. I laugh at that thought, because I'm sure that the God of the universe is big enough to care for them, and my friends, and me, and you.

We see people who don't have food or water, or who can't walk or see, or who need to be released of a bondage they have. We've seen people healed in person, healed on TV, we've heard all about the stories in the Bible. But what if you're just an average Joe. What if you have a decent life, most the things you need or want, good family, decent job, could you want anything more in life? SURE. Jesus said He came to give life and life to the fullest. We don't have to have something wrong with us to WANT the power of God to be full and active and moving in our lives!

I've grown up all my life hearing the stories of Jesus and the power of God displayed through people's lives in the Bible. I believe them-and God is never-changing, He's always the same. So why can't I have His power displayed through me?! I want Him to always be working in my life, always using me-I always want to be available and have FAITH that it will happen.

A friend of mine was in Nashville with me once, and in the morning we took some time to pray, asking God to bless us and allow us to be a blessing to others! Well after our taping that day with Steelroots, an annoyed gentleman was gracious enough to roll his window down and tell me my tire was flat. I was driving 8 hours the next morning and it was already late and dark out. I was, needless to say, freaking out, yes I know I was being a girl. I didn't know that part of town really well and wasn't sure what to do. We stopped at a gas station to fill it up, and prayed for God to help us find someone to change my tire (my husband would be confused to hear this considering he and his dad taught me how to change one- but I forgot ). A local tire place was just closing, and we begged them to help us out, they were kind enough to, and didn't charge us a thing. I searched my car high and low for all the cash I could find, and gave it to the gentleman, as well as a CD of my last record MY WORLD. I told him that God used him to bless me today. He told me he believed in God, and began to cry. It was a beautiful story of God's power and provision. I'm amazed at how He uses His people.
